Hot New Companies To Buy For 2014

The reason you invest in bonds is because of months like January and February, and the reason for the bond market's gains in both months is the monthly jobs report.

The nation added 113,000 jobs in January, vs. 75,000 in December, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Economists expected 185,000. New jobs in December, were revised up by only 1,000.

For investors, it's time to be glad you own bonds. The bond market thrives on bad news. When the economy is slack, there's less demand for borrowing, and interest rates fall. Lower rates means that the prices of older bonds with higher yields rise. If you own a bond yielding 3%, you can sneer at people with bonds that yield 2.70%.
